Here I am again. I know I have been absent from the scene for a while but, this new year has brought new things into my life. I didn’t make any resolutions because, well, I just didn’t. Actually, I guess I did. I vowed that I would make something for my great-niece that she asked me to make over a year ago. I have been pretty busy in my woodworking shop getting this done for her. If you have ever made anything with wood and had to do any kind of joinery where there is glueing involved you know that the weather we have been having always delays things because it doesn’t dry very quickly. When I would get to a part where I had to wait for things to dry I began working on a brand new project. I am really excited about it.
I decided I am going to make pens, pencils, letter openers, and key rings. I have made three things so far. This is the first thing I did and it is a pencil. It was so exciting and fun. After I had sanded it, put the finish on it and assembled it I couldn’t stop looking at it. I don’t mean to brag but, it was so beautiful I couldn’t believe I had made it.  Â
Here is what I have made so far. The pencil and the twist comfort pen are made out of cherry wood. The letter opener is made out of walnut. I am working at the library today so I won’t get anything new made until tomorrow. My favorite TV show, which they are taking off, has its final two-hour ending tonight. I have to watch that. I will get started again in the morning.
I had my online book signing yesterday for my e-book. I don’t know if any of you signed up for it and attended but, If you did you got a free download of, not only my book but, the other 3 authors too. I am downloading the one about Jack The Ripper. People are always saying to me, “Oh, I could never write a book.” I tell them that you could if you just sat down and started writing. When I started my first one I didn’t think about whether or not I could do it, I just began writing and things just kept coming to me and, before you know it there was a book.
It is a beautiful day.Be like my cat, Gunner. He is just sitting on this post surveying the area and deciding what he is going to get into something. Believe me, he will find something! Get out and enjoy.
I hope you have a wonderful day. I have been silent long enough that I hope I don’t repeat myself with my closing. If I am it is okay because, it is a good one. “Spread LOVE everywhere you go. First of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your spouse, to a next door neighbor… Let no one ever come to you without leaving better or happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting.” Mother Teresa. Talk to you again next time. Melanie
